I know surround sound is nice, but who the hell would ever flush so much cash down the toilet?

I purchased this laptop March 16... it's been 1.5 months. I know Apple's policy for returns is long over, but I'm beginning to really feel this screen is unacceptable and unusable. Are there any suggestions for solutions to this? Should I even bother pleading my case to Apple for a return?
Now I'm looking at that MBA 13" with the higher resolution...

There are lay-ins from either smalldog or radtech that work well. They work to simply cover the keys from contacting the screen (especially keeping your finger oils off of it) which will help to avoid the bright squares some people have on their screens.

i just bought a 32 GB verizon iphone yesterday. I have never had a smartphone before ever. I am accident prone and a newb at technology. I understand that applecare will cover your tech support if you are having any problems with the phone, or if anything functionality-wose breaks on the phone- they will repair it. However, applecare does not cover, dropped/cracked phones, water damage, etc. It was recommended to me to buy squaretrade, and it looks awesome! I am considering buying both, that way I am fully covered from basically all angels....what do you think about this ??? good move or bad move an why ? remember...this is my first smartphone and i am a newb.

So insurance has officially denied my claim, and my stolen 15" Powerbook, along with about $1000 worth of personal belongings, will in all likelyhood never grace my hands again. So its time to bite the bullet and credit myself a new Mac, I am just not sure wether I want another PB (i had a lot of problems with the last one) or if maybe I should go with an iMac. I really loved the portability of my PB, but more power larger HD etc. etc. is very tempting in the iMac arena. Any thoughts/recomendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I personally use the Spyder2 Pro (version 3 is current version) which calibrates the monitor as well as printers through printing of IT-8 color charts that you then measure with the included colorimeter.
That package cost me around $500 (currently goes for $539 - http://spyder.datacolor.com/product-pp-s3studiosr.php), but if you need just monitor calibration, that goes for $169 (http://spyder.datacolor.com/product-mc-s3pro.php).
Pantone Huey Pro is also another monitor calibrator that seems to have gotten relatively good reviews and is around $100 (http://www.pantone.com/pages/products/product.aspx?pid=562&ca=2).
There's also X-Rite Eye-One (http://www.pantone.com/pages/products/product.aspx?pid=108&ca=2) and is on sale for $199 right now.

AFP reports (http://www.google.com/hostednews/afp/article/ALeqM5iPv4adjeagiDv59ZBv5Cu7kyF8uw) that China Mobile, the largest mobile phone provider in China, is continuing to work with Apple on bringing the iPhone to the carrier's network."We really are still in talks with Apple...In our negotiations in the past, we insisted on sticking to our conditions," company chairman Wang Jianzhou told reporters on the sidelines of a regional mobile phone conference in Hong Kong.
"We are still very sincere about completing this negotiation."China Mobile has been in discussions with Apple regarding the iPhone for quite some time, but a number of roadblocks (http://www.macrumors.com/2009/02/09/details-of-iphone-negotiations-between-apple-and-china-mobile-emerge/) have prevented the companies from striking a deal and allowed China Unicom to become the first carrier (http://www.macrumors.com/2009/10/30/iphone-launches-today-in-china/) to offer the iPhone there.
Despite the setbacks and reports of slow sales (http://www.macrumors.com/2009/11/03/china-unicom-reports-only-5000-new-iphone-users-since-launch/) for China Unicom, China Mobile apparently remains committed to landing the iPhone, having reiterated (http://www.macrumors.com/iphone/2009/09/14/china-mobile-chairman-confirms-ongoing-iphone-talks/) its interest several times in recent months.

I wasnt sure where to post this. But I had received one of these phone calls tonight from a phone number 052312293 leaving me a message to call them back at 646-770-2874. The message they left me was stating that either I or my attorney should call them as this is critical and then wish me luck and god bless. Also saying his name was Dave Johnson altho he sounded like he was Middle Eastern. So I googled these numbers and found out that these are scams and that supposedly they have your SSN bank acct or credit card numbers. Also saying that it is from a pay day loan (which I do not know what a pay day loan is or even applied for one). So I called the 646 number and a lady had answered and I asked her why the bleep are you scamming people? She told me that it was a legit firm and that she knew my name (FYI i didnt give her my name over the phone). So I asked her to tell me my name and she refused to do so after we argued a minute. She then gave the phone to some guy and he also said he knew my name and who I was. Then he told me he was my father. Then they hung up on me also blocking me from calling them now. My brother had even called them on 3 way and they still claimed to be legit. Now I had to do all this stuff with my bank acct changing it as well tomorrow as some people had money taking from them already. I also had to put an alert out on my SSN for 90 days. I also called the FTC which I heard is crock anyways.
I just wanted to warn people in case you come across this or already have had these phone calls as I am not the only one who has had this happen to. I do not order stuff online I do not trust that. If I do you usually see the "lock" symbol as well anyways. Just be careful I guess as this scared the heck out of me already. So far my acct has nothing missing but still I am worried.

thats not too bad. They will probably be the last people showin up for the night, maybe some at midnight. I bet it will really pick up between 4-6. If anyone hits up the flatiron store, an update around the 4-6 timeframe would be greatly appreciated. A saved spot in line gets you a free bumper haha. Make your new iphone useable as a phone haha.

Ah, I misunderstood.
Btw:
There are currently no viruses for Mac OS X in public circulation, only a handful of trojans and other malware, which have to be installed manually via entering the administrator password.
The only anti-virus you need to protect your Mac is education and common sense.

I got here about 10:30 and maybe 20/25 in line. Now looks to be about 50 in line. Several security guards are here so I am guessing that they are expecting a much bigger crowd by 5pm.

Yea, you should notice a pretty big increase in performance if you go from the x1900 to the 5770. Almost double the performance if not more I think.

I am using my 13" MBA for Xcode just fine. From a performance standpoint, the current 11" MBA will be fine. 64GB might be a little tight on storage though. If you plan on doing anything else with the machine (large iTunes library, etc.) then you will probably want more storage. 2GB of RAM should be fine unless you have a very large project. Personally, I have the 4GB model. You can't upgrade the RAM later, so if you think you might want 4GB, you need to buy it upfront.
I seriously doubt the new MBA will have built-in ethernet. Apple hasn't put ethernet on one so far so I seriously doubt they will start now.

I too have noticed lag on my iPhone 4. I have my phone jail broken but I don't believe that's the issue because previous versions weren't laggy.
Mine was smooth as butter before the jailbreak to 4.3.1. Now it stutters every once in a while.
