Definitely.
Btw, I bumped it up to 4.6 now just because who doesn't like an extra 100mhz. It handled it no problem. Temps went up a couple degrees under load but I think that's mostly because I'm running into a heat saturation problem with the case right now (it's a pretty small one). Either way the temps remain under 65C and are well within the safe range of the 2600k (TjMax is at 98C).
Also I just wanted to point out that my 08 13" MBP that I've been using for everything for the past 2 years does the Cinebench OpenGL benchmark at about 5 (FIVE!) fps and this computer does it at 96! It's amazing being able to play games now. It's like, I didn't realize they could be this smooth!

install on the Mini, then carbon copy cloner to the Xserve.
then to keep it legal, delete it from the mini.

Depends if it's a server side dependancy, that you be running a version after a specific build (which could be after PPC support was removed).

Ah wait... more complicated. Sorry. Yeah, you're gonna have to use some php or server side scripts if you want to send the info to yourself.
Here's a tutorial that uses CGI scripting...

i want to get a external HD to work with my 27" imac that i purchased last summer.
should i get one with Thunderbolt technology?
Also, would i hook this external up through my router or directly to the imac
neither of which have the thunderbolt connection port....
so, i'm wondering if there's any advantage getting one with TB
thanks for your thoughts

Really!?! I'm in Tacoma, and when I called on Saturday they said they'd have it. They don't have a theatre, but they said that they'd be streaming it on some of their PowerMacs with the bigger screens. The guy even put me on hold to go ask. He seemed quite sure after asking.
Did they tell you they won't? Do you guys think TechTV will have it?
It looks like I won't be working, and I have nothing better to do, so I wanted to watch it.

If your resume and cover letter go to Apple Corporate in Cupertino CA and the formatted version of your resume goes to a recruiter (who invites you to the recruiting seminar), would it be possible for Apple Corporate to screen your resume and cover letter before the recruiter? Then (theoretically) the application would go to a store Hiring Manager who will then call you in for an interview.

i got what you were asking confused.. you just need to change the position from absolute to "position: fixed" and that will keep it in the browser window no matter your scrolling..the jquery will just animate an object.

What brands of CPU upgrades are recommended? There are more choices out there than the last time I looked. I would like to stay under $150.
I decided not to upgrade my g3 but did upgrade my g4. I'm not too sure if upgrading a g3 to a g4 is a good bet due to the cost of upgrading. Performance will improve but a g3 processor is just slow!!! If you ever edit and recompress videos, you'd be much happier buying a g4.
I got my first g4 sawtooth agp a year ago for 250. It was originally a g4 400. I bought the 1ghz upgrade card for my original sawtooth agp g4 400 two months ago. OWC Computing (http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/accelerators/OWC-Mercury-Extreme/)
It took about 5 minutes to setup and works like a charm. I was so impressed with the processing performance difference that I also picked up a new video card on ebay (Nvidia Geforce 4 5200 - both core graphics and quartz extreme are now supported)! Total cost = $299. You might be able to find an upgrade card on ebay for $150.
I chose to go this route over the mac mini, because I have over 300GB of hard drive space in my machine that I use for graphics editing. While it's no g5 or maybe even a mac mini, I like to upgrade components and I don't like the performance of USB or firewire drives. I've been pleased going this route.
If I were you, I'd look for a really good deal on a mini or other g4 machine. Even a g4 400 will scream past a g3 500 in CPU intensive tasks. You can also call the sales staff at OWC. I've found them to be pretty straight forward about answering questions and giving recommendations. Hope this was helpful!

Can I use this drive to replace the one that just died in my PowerBook G4 1.67, 15" DLSD/HR Aluminum?
http://www.amazon.com/Western-Digital-2-5-Inch-Notebook-WD6400BEVT/dp/B002QAXZZY/ref=sr_1_3
Most of the replacement drives I see are 160Gb except for this one which is 640Gb and only a few dollars more. It sounds too good to be true so I want to be sure it will work in my PowerBook.
Thanks.

you could render in h.264 and wrap in mpeg4 instead. don't know about qt windows, but mac version needs a plugin (Perian for example) to play avi files.
never thought of dv as a delivery codec, regardless of the wrapper, but haven't messed with tape in some time.
Then he may have deleted Quicktime and now Windows Movie Maker has taken over and changed the default file opening so he can't open the others. seems to be a user error.

Cheers for the replys.
I was thinking about moving to 4 as it looked like it was all in a single IDE rather than seperate ones in 3.2. I thought it may be more like what im used to. Appreciate the feedback though and will probably stick with 3.2 based on it.
The file in /Developer which gives instructions on how to remove XCode 3.2.
I will take a look at this. Is the installation something that wont affect any other parts of the system or will removing xcode have a knock on effect?
As im new to mac I thought it was a case of dragging a file to trash.
