Thanks, but it needs to be 2.0 since it will have a hard drive, iPod nano, and PSP hooked up to it.

I've got a Belkin F5U021, but I'm not sure if it is 2.0 or 1.1

there are several threads on this at http://www.xlr8yourmac.com/ forums.

only the MDD PSU from Apple has the right Voltages, but the mods needed to make it fit the case do not justify the work involved, and then you have a botched up QS (and the risk of miswiring).

There is a reason the Ebay PSU's are fetching $100+, they cannot be duplicated easily. Best bet would be a Digikey or Radio Shack AC-DC Transformer with the +25V output.

That's so true! I really wanted to go ultimate this time and that's what i did
But i have to admit the cheapest iMacs are the best deals this time

    *Edit*
One thing i'de like to add. If video editing for you means doing some cuts, arranging your material and maybe doing a quick colour correction you don't need a powerfull machine. Actually i'm doing this with 1080p DSLR and Sony EX Cam footage on my two year old mac mini without problems.
The reason i'm ordering a new iMac is that i hit my computers limits when doing extensive compositing in After Effects.
    Hope that helps

The control method looks very similar to what Samsung has implemented on this (http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/samsungnv10/page2.asp) camera. It looks pretty intuitive as implemented there.

Let's face it, Microsoft can't compete. ... I said it before on these posts and got laughed to scorn, Microsoft is dead.
Really? Who laughed? I wouldn't have. I've been predicting the slow collapse from internal rot ever since Word started .rtf format.

But you're right -- the process of moving from arbitrary, proprietary formats to generally accepted standards will be painful sometimes, but it will happen.

    cheap solution...

    jailbreak it yourself

    Great. Then what?

Jailbreaking doesn't unlock it and many iPhone 4's cannot currently be exploit unlocked.

So now I'm pissed. I used to work on papers at home and save them on my iDisk and access them for further editing and printing at school. But I can't access my iDisk from the PC's (they have network drive mapping locked up). Plus I'm just angry in general about them getting rid of all the Macs.

You should be able to access your files (and you can password protect it too) from you .Mac homepage... still stinks you can't map to a network drive (and that the iMac's are stowed away)... but that should work for ya.

I have a PB Ti G4 (Model: M8592LL/A) with the original Airport card. I cant get this to connect to WPA networks. WEP wireless works fine.

When I have a network set as WPA the PowerBook sees the network and when I attempt to join it recognizes it as a "WPA Personal" network, however I cannot join the network at all.

Is there anything I can do for this? Do I have to buy an Airport Extreme card??

Okay, I need some of your expert advice.

Some years ago, when we got our first iPod Classic (which wasn't classic back then, haha), I spent an ENTIRE weekend swapping out and ripping CD's, one every 10 minutes or so. FOR HOURS!!

Well, do to then-space limitations, we ended up parsing some of those songs and deleting them.

I would like to undergo a repeat project, over the course of a few weeks of course, of re-ripping ALL of my CDs to ensure that ALL of our music is in iTunes.

Will iTunes advise me when a CD is being duplicated so I can save the time it takes ripping that one and allow me to move on to the next?

If not, once I've re-ripped my 2 or 300 CDs, is there a simple way to delete the dupicates out of iTunes? What if they are different versions of the same song - exactly but from different sources (different CDs, like Artist X, then Artist X Greatest Hits, or Artist X as part of a soundtrack compilation).

What if they are different versions such as a live version, or an extended version?

    Thanks for your experienced input!

I have to disagree with this comment, its not the Iphone man is USA's Networks. over here in england i have had no dropped calls (not a single one) beit the Iphone 3GS, 3G or 4 not a single dropped call and i am sure the majority of Iphone users here would state this.

    I can confirm this.

I have many friends with iPhone 4's, all on different carriers here in canada and none of us have experienced a dropped call, only I have which was because the proximity had me end the call, but that was fixed since 4.2.1.

He's talking about the OpenGL update that allows one processor to deal with OpenGL instructions whilst the other does, um, other stuff. It supposedly gives OpenGL performance as much as a 2x boost in speed.

I'm guessing it only works with Mac with multiple processing cores.

It's rather pointless without multiple processors/cores, so I'd say that's a safe assumption.

I have about 20 TB of photos. The biggest advice I can give you that others have stated is from the beginning organize your photos in a very logical manner and edit the meta-data to reflect what they are. This is very very important for when you get very large collections of photos.

Also unless you have a mac pro tower where you can put hard drives inside your best bet is an external for your pics.

You are basically moving the bandwidth requirements to another server. It depends on what the second host allows.
    That sounds promising.
My plan is to host the files from my Dropbox, giving me a good 2GB of space from the 40MB I think I have now. I'm not sure how bandwidth works with Dropbox since it's not a web host. I assume it will work fine, otherwise I'll just have to cough up some money :(

    NEWTON!!!!

She would be so retro and its an Apple!

    I want one so hard!

It's real retro, yet people are developing OS X drivers for it.
    GROOVY! :)

Well, as I said before, this isn't iphone against consoles, this is iphone against other handhelds. We should be comparing games we'd expect to play on the handheld devices.

Of course console is going to be better. If we are talking about playing at home and not needing portability, of course the console is a better choice than any of the handhelds.

You're comparing apples to oranges here. You may not be interested in handheld gaming, but that is what is relevant to this discussion, not console gaming. The iphone and other hand helds really aren't competitors to consoles, they serve a different purpose really.

Well then in that light, when it comes to FPS or Platforming gaming, I'll stick to a dedicated handheld with buttons/joy stick. And based on the Engadget story I posted earlier, it seems a lot of other people will too. For a mind numbing good time, I whip out the old iphone for a game of Ball Roll DX
