I just talked to the people at southgate. I was told the store will open at 10:00am like usual but that they won't start selling the ipad until 5pm. They also said there is a limit of 2 per customer and they don't know which configurations they will have. I'm like you - I don't want to be hanging around forever but it looks like not only will people have to arrive hours early to get a spot in line but they will have to wait until 5:00pm just to buy it. Yikes.

There is a tutorial around the web for doing this with Adobe Flex for free. Though all of these rely on Flash so no SEO at all.
Next up is have a look for jQuery page flipper, i've seen a few effects built ether in the canvas or with jQuery and these are much more SEO friendly and also free if your willing to put in the work to follow the tutorials and documentation.
The flash=No SEO isn't as true anymore as long as it's built properly, google can index flash now; but you don't get the SEO value of h tags with flash.

I think in theory if you damaged the phone and got the replacement in the US the replacement phone would be locked, even for you having a legit unlock.
But yeah, official unlock should be permanent.

who said Microsoft is not interested in developing future Mac apps?? I've said this before and I'll say it again... Office is very profitable to Microsoft, and it will be just plain stupid if Microsoft stopped developing it. And although Microsoft IS stupid in many ways, I don't think they're THAT stupid...

I have the Crumpler Beer Back which is an amazing backpack. It holds my 15" MBP perfectly (even though it's meant for the 17" - I wanted the extra room. The 15" model is called the King Single).
It's comfortable on my back for hours, has tons of room for everything, and it's great. The only downside is the price, but its completely waterproof and has a lifetime warranty.

After trying Lion DP2, I'm definitely liking the mouse movement better than Snow Leopard (using my Magic Mouse). The response seems more linear, which is a major improvement over the crap SL acceleration curve.
The maximum pointer speed has also been raised, compared to SL.

This is just the dilemma, I don't know! I would move it around the house from room to room. And am then not tied to a desk.
I'd planned just to get the basic iMac with an external hd to store all my movies, so could do that with a mbp.
Just concerned about having a MacBook pro left on charge 70% of the time. I have a feeling the battery life would deplete rapidly:s

Updates replace changed files. Softare Update merely automates what you would do when you manually download updates. IMHO, the reports that you heard about updates originate between the keyboard and chair.Actually, the issues aren;t of the PEBKAC variety. Ever since Apple started with patch updates through Software Update I've had issues occur that were fixed by applying the full point update (not the combo update). Pretty much every issue that has been fixed by installing the combo update (that I know of) has been where the system in question had one ofr more point patch updates installed by software update instead of the full point update.
Ever since that became a common occurance, I only install the full point updates and haven't had any of the funky issues that people seem to have that are apparently caused by the smaller patch updates.
I think Apple could save some money by not bothering with the patch updates so they have less software to test and have less customer issues. In theory having the three types of updates (patch, point and combo) gives them too many combinations to test. Since apparently depending on which updates were patch and which were point changes the outcome of how the system works.

I would imagine they're probably holding off until Tiger at which point, if I remember correctly, iSync is going to be discontinued and its functions integrated more heavily into the OS and .mac.
According to Steve's keynote this is correct. It is supposed to come out with Tiger and be more part of a .Mac sync than anything.

apparently with the update to Safari 1.2, they've fixed the bug with the links, so if you were having problems like I was, with links staying open instead of closing after accessing the iTMS, it should work after updating. That is to say, however, that if you're like one of my other computers, stuck on 10.2.8, it's still busted. Oh well - just thought I'd pass along that they work (for some of us, at least)

I read somewhere that Starbucks does that type of stuff too... although I can't remember a specific time, and of course it's not a disaster anywhere close to this.
That said, any company in it's right mind would do this. In this case, yes, many, many Kudos to Apple Corporate, even more kudos to the immeasurable help provided by the local Apple staff, but to keep it in perspective I doubt any store would turn people away. It is cool that Apple controlled so much of the building that they could be self-sustaining, and it was very neat that the Managers were sent out to buy food and water before the rush. I like that the company was standing behind whatever decision the employees made - according to that article, some didn't.
Sadly, any number of first-person stories equally moving and more powerful will never be heard.

1. Can I use my apple wireless keyboard and magic mouse during installation of windows 7, or do I have to have a usb mouse?
no.
they won't work until you installed the boot cam drivers.
2. After windows is installed, does the bluetooth keyboard work to hold option at startup and choose which partition to boot from.
it doesn't work for me (on the Mac side)
3. If the answer to 2 is "no" or "sometimes", how could i go about choosing to boot into os x once im in windows. I know in os x I can go system preferences-startup disk. Is there a similar functionality in windows?
yes.
it's in control panels.
no.
